World Champion Viswanathan Anand won the rapid match against Hungarian top player Peter Leko with the final score 5-3. The match of eight games with 25 min + 10 sec time control took place on 3-7th June in Miskolc.
After four games and going into the rest day Vishy Anand held a minimal 2.5-1.5 lead. He opened the second match half with another win, in the fifth game, in Gruenfeld Indian defence, only this time with Black pieces. The remaining three games were hard-fought draws. The match was almost thematic, with Gruenfeld Indian and Meran Slav appearing regularly, and only in the final game Leko switched to 1.e4 allowing us to see a Caro-Kann.
