Vladimir Burmakin Wins BDO Premier

Premier and Challenger on 9-17th August in Haarlem, Netherlands

The fourth BDO Chess Tournament, composed of Premier and Challenger events, was held on 9-17th August in Haarlem, Netherlands. The top-seeded GM Vladimir Burmakin of Russia dominated the Premier group and claimed the first place with convincing 8.0 points from nine rounds. Unfortunately, there were no title norms winners, as Jeroen Willemze, who was close to reaching the goal, succumbed in the last two rounds.

7-8. FM Rombaldoni Axel (ITA 2374) and IM Ris Robert (NED 2415) – 3.5

9. FM Kuipers Stefan (NED 2321) – 2.5

10. Van Vliet Jeffrey (NED 2296) – 2.0

The Challenger Tournament took place parallel to the main event. Andrea Rombaldoni (ITA 2219), father of FM Axel and only foreign player in this group, won the race and earned himself invitation for the next year’s Premier group.

2-3. FM Marc Overeem 2288 and David Klein 2135 – 6.0

4. FM Otto Rubingh 2267 – 5.5
