GM Hristos Banikas Wins Greek Chess Championship

30th November – 12th December, Hotel Mediterranean, Rhodes

The 58th Greek Chess Championship was held on 30th November – 12th December in Hotel Mediterranean, Rhodes. GM Hristos Banikas becomes champion after dramatic finish when he beat direct competitor IM Spyridon Kapnisis in the last round. This is still a wonderful achievement for Kapnisis, who tied second place with GM Ioannis Papaioannou. Last year winner IM Ioannis Papadopoulos finished 7th with 5.5 points.
