5th Mediterranean Chess Championship

The 5th Mediterranean Championship was held from 26 November to 4 December in Sousse, Tunisia. International Master Darko Doric from Croatia is the 5th Mediterranean Men Champion and WIM Lilja Drljevic from Montenegro is the 5th Women Champion. Up until the last round everything was wide open in both categories and whilst the main contender's for the men's title held each other up with draws, IM Doric was the only player who forced through a win to clinch the overall title. WIM Drljevic won her game against the top Tunisian player in the tournament to pass WGM Sophie Milliet and IM Ekaterina Atalik who last their last round games.
