Mtel Masters 2008 blindfold game

Jason Juett will play with Topalov

Veselin Topalov will play blindfold against a 23-year-old mathematician from USA a day before the start of the M-Tel Masters tournament in Sofia. Against Topalov will be Jason Juett from the state of Iowa. Last year he won the game Play like Topalov, that took place during M-Tel Masters 2007. Juett guessed correctly a total of 250 moves of Topalov. The game attracted great interest from the lovers of the ancient game and more than 2500 people participated.

In 2006 the winner of the event was Alex Brunetti. He sat against Veselin Topalov in a blindfold match that created a lot of interest, and later was glad to share his views on the game with Chessdom. Since then Alex Brunetti is a part of the Chessdom team and often partners with the site and comments online games.

Jason Juett, the winner from 2007, learned to move the chess pieces on the board at the age of 5, but his first participation in a tournament came when he was 17. Afterwards he became one of the best in his age. He presently follows chess events closely and is among the top 15 players in his state. He graduated Mathematics in university and is getting prepared for a PhD in Mathematics.

"M-Tel Masters is one of the greatest chess tournament of our time and there are played great games to the delight of all us, the fans of chess", Juett shares. "I am proud I won the Play like Topalov game and I am looking forward to meeting him in person and to playing chess with him."
