Gashimov and Motylev won their round 4 games to share the first position at the Poikovsky Karpov tournament. Motylev played a solid game against Emil Sutovsky and walked away with a full point with black, in an event that has very high percentage of white wins. Gashimov did the same, as he gave Shirov his fourth loss in a row.

After round four Gashimov and Motylev have over 3000 ELO performance. Inarkiev follows them closely with 3/4.
