Krasimir Rusev

One of the newest Bulgarian grandmasters, Krasimir Rusev (ELO 2543) won the open tournament Ajedrez Torredembarra in Spain. He collected 7,5/9 to take the top position among 15 other titled players.

With the same points, but worse tiebreak finished Plamen Mladenov (BUL, 2362) and FM Kiprian Berbatov (BUL, 2398). Mladenov has been performing quite strongly at national events in the last years, and now that he had a chance to snatch a norm in an international event he fully used it. FM Kiprian Berbatov is the strongest junior of the region, often stunning strong GMs at international events. The top standing means over 25 ELO points gain for each of the two players.

Just half a point away from the winner remained the international master from Peru Miguel Munoz Pantoja. IM Milchev, IM Mellado, and IM Ivanov also performed well to finish with 6,0/9.
