2nd Subic International Open

25-31st May, with prize fund of 30.000 USD

The 2nd Subic International Open has started in the Philippines following the Asian Chess Championship that was played in the same venue. It is a 9-round Swiss tournament with 74 participants, including 17 GM’s and 14 IM’s. Among them is GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly, the winner of the recent Asian Championship. Subic International Open started on 25th and concludes on 31st May. Total prize fund is $30.000 USD.

Indian GM Deepan Chakkravarthy and untitled Chinese Xiu Deshun have both won with black pieces in round four to maintain perfect score and single out on the top. The two will meet tomorrow in round five. GM Sandipan Chanda (India), Yu Yangyi (China) and GM Dao Thien Hai (Vietnam) are close behind with 3.5 points each.
