Opening ceremony of the 2010 Chess Olympiad
The show starts at 21.30 local time in the Ice Palace Arena Ugra. 5,500 spectators are expected, while the traditional dances and opening festivities will be performed by over 1000 actors. The 2010 Chess Olympiad will have free entrance for the audience.
800 policement at the Chess Olympiad
800 policemen will ensure public order in the Khanty-Mansiysk in the days of Chess Olympiad 2010. Foot patrols will guard the streets and squares, and special motorized units will also be employed in the security services of the Olympiad.
VIP guests in Khanty Mansiysk
The Chess Olympiad Khanty-Mansiysk is waiting for dozens of VIP-guests. Food at the Olympiad
The head of Ugra region, Natalia Komarova, has recently stated that all facilities are ready for the Chess Olympiad. One of the latest details uncovered, the players will have two possible menues – a classical and a vegeterian one. They will be prepared by professional chefs from St. Petersburg. Some delegations, like Norway, will prepare their own special menu.
Numismatists limited edition
The bank of Khanty Mansiysk will prepare a limited edition of a silver coin dedicated to the Olympiad. The inscription will read “XXXIX World Chess Olympiad” and only 5000 pieces will be released.
